Blue Ridge
Paintings take on lives of their own. Artists do have some control, but never as much as they'd like. This started as a beautiful view of a thin edge of fire atop a distant mountain, based on memories and photos of a trip to western Canada two years ago. But because I was experimenting with achieving hard edges on raw canvas (which is usually more atmospheric), it became more stylized, more abstract, and ultimately ... Blue Ridge.
